I was wondering if you could all give me your thoughts on this coming Hanukkah and the rapture of the church. Do you feel that it's possible that the rapture would occur in the Jewish festival of lights? Or is there just another overly hyped theory about the day of the rapture? I think that we're always in the possibility that the rapture might happen at any day. Who knows (besides God) if there might be a link between this Jewish holiday and the hour of his visitation? Please, tell me your opinions on this matter.

But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Mathew 24:36

It's much more likely that the Rapture will occur during the Feast of Trumpets.  I'll see what I can dig up on this, but this is a widely accepted view within the Messianic Community.

Here is a post that was done by Linda (Helpforhomeschoolers) on the CBBS on March 22, 2004.  This is from a thread discussing the difference between the “Last Trump” and the “Trumpet Judgements of Revelation” but it shows the significance of the Feast of Trumpets in the Rapture:

The term the Last trump, is a term... a jewish idiom refering to the final trump of the feast of trumpets. The last trump is not the 7th trump.

The term Last Trump is only used only 2 times in scripture:

TRUMP: 1Thes 4:16-17

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the TRUMP of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (KJV)

LAST TRUMP: 1 Cor 15:52

"In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." (KJV)

The feast of Rosh Hashanah is called the Last Trump. Paul was a Jew writing to a Jewish audience. He knew full well what the term Last Trump meant. AFTER the time of the Last Trump comes the time of Yom Kippur. This is referred to as the Day of Atonement which includes the judgements of the trumpets as seen in the book of Revelation.

Rev 8:6 "And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound." (KJV)

FIRST comes the Last Trump (singular) known as Rosh Hashanah.
SECOND comes the Trumpets (plural) known as Yom Kippur.

The above list scriptures regarding the Last Trump is clearly seen as the Rapture of the Church. The 7 trumpets of Revelation is clearly seen as the time of God's judgements on the earth. It is very clear from scripture that the Last Trump and the 7 trumpets are very different and at different times. One is the Rapture followed by the 7 trumpets of judgement.

Rosh Hashanah comes every year in the fall. This year it comes Sept. 30th 2000. The Bible says that "when they say peace and safety, then sudden destruction with come upon them." Notice the words "they" and "them." This is a clear reference to people outside the Church that will not be Raptured at the Last Trump, and will then enter into the 7 trumpets of God's judgement.

Rosh Hashanah is also called the "Unknown Day" because no man knows the day nor the hour in which it begins. In fact it is two days that come together as one. It is also called the Shout and the Awakening. Sound familiar?

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a SHOUT, with the voice of the archangel, and with the TRUMP of God: and the dead in Christ (the Awakening) shall rise first."

"Finally, the Great Tribulation will fulfill the Day of Atonement, and the Rapture of the Church will fulfill the Feast of Trumpets. And just as the Feast of Trumpets precedes the Day of Atonement, the Rapture will in turn precede the Tribulation."

The tribulation is about israel; it is not about the church; It is about Israel turing to God and judgement on the earth for those who dont turn to God. The groom does not punish his bride before the wedding.

I think there is a difference between the trump of 1Thes 4:16 and the last trump of 1 Cor 15:52.  I think the last trump, Rosh Hashanah, will be when the angels gather the elect from the 4 winds on the day of God's Wrath toward the end of the trib.  I happen to think there very well may be two raptures-the church before the trib, then the last trump just before God's Wrath hits the earth.
